I think this is a good time of the year to find fun, inexpensive things to do:

-- Inman Park restaurant week runs from September 23 - 29th. Some of the top restaurants in Atlanta (Rathbun, Sotto, Sotto, etc.) are offering prix fixe meals at $15, $25 and $35 -- a substantial discount!

-- Go for dim sum on Buford Highway. (Google dim sum on yelp and you'll get a good list of places offering it)

-- Look up local festivals. This weekend there's the Decatur Book Fair, Marietta Art Fair and more. Free!!! Couple that with lunch in a good local restaurant -- lunch is cheaper than dinner -- and it's a great inexpensive way to spend the day.

-- Museums. The High, the History Center and I think Tellus offer free admission the first weekend of every month to people with Bank of America cards.)

-- Plan a picnic in Piedmont Park

You asked a very open question...and also didn't say what part of the Metro area you live in...there might be some things happening in Roswell, but if you live in Conyers, no one wants to drive 120 miles round trip for a bargain. But here's a couple:

1. The Starlight Drive-In. On Moreland off I-20. You see two current released films at a price cheaper than the average theater. You can bring a couple of lawn chairs, a boom box if you have one and even your own picnic. Heck, you can even grill out, but you have to have your fire out before the show starts so everyone won't have to put up with the smoke. But, their concession stand prices are more like 1970 than today.

2. Stone Mountain Park. Lots to do there, picnic, take in a Laser Show, hike the mountain...check out their website for lots of ideas.

Lynn, Make a list of couples to invite and host a partner swapping party at home. Me and my old lady did this last valentines day and it was one heck of a blow out. The whole shin-dig cost about $125 for four couples. I roasted a free garlic-herb crusted turkey for the meal. The budget went for beer, appetizers and desserts. We even had a nice cake!
